Study to establish the needs and support the institution to improve ICT Services at universities
“Support the institution to improve ICT Services at universities” under the Digital Skills for an innovative East African Industry (dSkills@EA) project with the aim to support digital skills development for business resilience in times of COVID-19.
The dSkills@EA project is part of the technical development cooperation between the East African Community and the German Government, which aims to strengthen the employment and innovation-related digital skills of youth in the EAC and support society’s digital transformation. The project is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) together with an East African-German academic consortium that forms part of the Centre of Excellence for ICT in East Africa (CENIT@EA).
The Inter-University Council for East Africa (East African regional coordinator for higher institutions of learning) and UbuntuNet Alliance (the Regional Research and Education Network for Eastern and Southern Africa) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in March 2022 to; Strengthen National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) in the EAC Member states; Conduct advocacy to create widespread awareness of the benefits of National Research and Education Networks; Jointly organize regional and international events to promote ICT services and systems in education; research and management in institutions of higher learning; Facilitate virtual and/or physical staff exchange across the region; Establish sustainable capacity building activities to run Research and Education Networks in the region.
