Conference theme: “Accelerating development and diffusion of Science, technology and Innovation solutions for a resilient East Africa”

CALL FOR ABSTRACT

The East African Community (EAC) Regional Science Technology and Innovation (STI) Conference is a biennial Conference jointly organized by the East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO) and the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA).

EASTECO and IUCEA invite abstracts for the 3rd biennial EAC Regional STI Conference. The conference will be convened under the overarching theme “Accelerating development and diffusion of Science, Technology, and Innovation solutions for a resilient East Africa”.

The conference will be structured into four thematic areas, namely:

  1. Agricultural Productivity, Resilience, and Food Security.
  2. Health and Nutrition.
  3. Natural Resources Management.
  4. Information Communication Technology and Digital Economy.

The conference will be a multifaceted platform bringing together policymakers, industry players, academia, researchers, innovators, students, development partners, and other actors in the STI ecosystem in the EAC region and beyond. It will provide an opportunity for sharing experiences and best practices, strengthening collaborations, and stimulating applications of STI outputs that facilitate regional integration and development.

 GUIDE TO AUTHORS

Abstract Format: Each abstract shall not exceed 300 words, and shall be in MS Word, New Times Roman, font size 12, with no more than 5 keywords. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 15 January 2024. Successful abstracts will be published in the pre-conference book of abstracts.

For Accepted abstracts: Authors of accepted abstracts shall be required to submit full conference papers and PowerPoint presentations before the conference. In addition, authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to submit their papers to be published in the East African Journal of Science, Technology, and Innovation.

Submission: The abstracts shall be submitted electronically through the conference webpage, not later than 15 January 2024, using the link: https://www.iucea.org/xw3j

Abstracts will be peer-reviewed, and acceptance will be based on content relevance and overall programme balance in the thematic areas.

Important Dates

  • Abstract  submission deadline: 15 January 2024
  • Authors notification deadline: 5  February 2024
  • Submission of final revised abstracts deadline: 15 February 2024
  • Conference Dates: 6 – 8 March 2024
