IUCEA Celebrates Golden Jubilee
Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), 23rd November 2020, Kampala, Uganda: The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) is celebrating 50 years of existence (1970 to 2020). The celebrations will take place on 24th November at Imperial Golf View Hotel, Entebbe, Uganda.
The activities of the event will include a keynote presentation under the theme “The Role of IUCEA in the development of Higher Education and Fostering of EAC Regional Integration: Opportunities and Challenges followed by panel discussions by representatives of governments and subsequently are opened for discussion by all participants, virtually and physically. The event is expected to attract regional higher education stakeholders including Vice-Chancellors, university academic and administrative staff of member universities, representatives of governments, private sector/industry, Development Partners, students, and beneficiaries of the various IUCEA scholarships and exchange programmes, Institutions and Organs of the EAC.
The celebrations of the Golden Jubilee will be followed by the IUCEA 11th Annual Meeting on 25th November to transact normal governance meeting of the IUCEA. The purpose of the special session of the Annual Meeting is to reflect and strategize on IUCEA’s contribution to the development of higher education in East Africa and its role in shaping the higher education landscape in the region in the next decade and contribution to the EAC integration agenda.
