Obituary of Lilian David Amri

Fare Thee well Lilian David Amri

Born : 26th April 1961 ; Died : 2nd June 2021

The Management and Staff of Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), with deep sorrow, announce the untimely death of our colleague, sister and friend, Ms. Lilian David Amri from the United Republic of Tanzania, which occurred on 2nd June 2021 at Mulago National Referral Hospital, Uganda.  Preparations are underway to repatriate the body to her Ancestral Home, in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania.

Until 30th April 2021, Ms. Amri, was working as the Principal Estates Management Officer at IUCEA Secretariat in Kampala where she diligently served in various capacities for about 20 years since she joined the institution when IUCEA was revitalised and mainstreamed into the institutions of the EAC in 2000.

Lilian, we are grateful that you dedicated most of your adult working life to working with us at IUCEA. You wore excellence on your sleeve and inspired us all to excel at whatever we did.  With your zeal and passion for excellence, you immensely contributed to the development of higher education in the East African Community (EAC).  We share fond memories of the 20 years of service we had together.

We extend our deepest sympathy to your while family, children, your granddaughter & friend Gemima, parents, relatives and friends.

We know that you planned to use your time in retirement to focus on your hobbies and activities that you were unable to do in your fast-paced career. But your candle burnt out when a new journey had just begun. May Lilian’s Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.

Those we love can never be more than a thought away; for as long as there’s a memory, they live on in our hearts.
