CALL FOR STAFF MOBILITY 2023/2024

1.0 Introduction

The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) wishes to announce a call for applicants to participate in the 2023/2024 Staff Mobility Programme in the EAC Partner States for IUCEA member universities.

The objective of the Staff Mobility Programme is to encourage sharing of academic human resources, and the exchange of knowledge, skills, and experiences in order to address challenges on capacity gaps amongst member universities and enhance the attainment of the goals of  EAC as a Common Higher Education area and regional integration. Participants in the exchange program are expected to offer their services in teaching, research, external examination, quality assurance, program accreditation, and community engagement.

2.0 IUCEA invites:

  1. Member universities, that wish to receive visiting Staff from universities in the other EAC Partner States, and
  2. Academic staff from member universities who would like to offer some or all the services under the Staff Mobility Programme to universities in the region but outside the country where the home university is located and not in the country of nationality of the visiting staff.

3.0 Duration

The Staff Mobility program under this call is for a maximum of 4 months (equivalent to one semester), 10 working days for External Examination, and 5 days for program accreditation.

4.0 Eligibility

The applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

  1. A Host Institution being an active member fully subscribed to IUCEA.
  2. The applicant staff is affiliated with an active member of IUCEA.
  3. The academic staff has an academic rank of either Lecturer, Senior lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor.
  4. Host University is an IUCEA member university located in a different Partner State from the Home University and is different from the country of the applicant’s nationality.

5.0 Application Procedure

Applicants should adhere to the following procedures:

  1. Download and fill out the relevant application forms from session 4.0 above
  2. Fill out the online questionnaire under the above link,
  • Submit the documents in hard copy or scanned format and academic certificates.
  1. The Current Call Covers Mobility between (August and December 2023).
  2. Applications are open between 13th July 2023-13th August 2023.

6.0 Selection Criteria

The following will be considered while selecting the applicants:

  1. Academic qualifications and rank (Lecturer)
  2. Compliance with host/ guest universities with IUCEA membership subscription.
  3. Priority areas of study/subjects as may be set by IUCEA from time to time; and
  4. Equity considerations: first-time beneficiaries, EAC Partner States, and universities.
