CALL FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE 2022 STAFF MOBILITY PROGRAMME IN EAC UNIVERSITIES

Introduction

The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) wish to announce a call for applications to participate in the 2022 Staff Mobility Programme in the EAC Partner States for IUCEA member universities.

IUCEA is an institution of the East African Community (EAC) whose mission is to promote strategic and sustainable development of Higher Education Systems and research in support of East Africa’s Socio-economic development and regional integration. The objective of the Staff Mobility Programme is to enhance sharing of academic human resource, exchange of knowledge, skills and experiences, in order to effectively contribute to the outputs of the goals of EAC as a Common Higher Education Area. Participants in the exchange programme are expected to offer their services in either among the university functions of teaching, research and community engagement and /or the external examination.

Applications are invited from member universities that wish to receive visiting staff from universities in the other EAC Partner States and Academic staff from member universities who would like to offer some or all of the four (4) services under the Staff Mobility Programme to universities in the EAC Partner States, but outside their home university /Partner State or a Country of applicant’s nationality.

Mode of Staff Mobility Visits

The Staff Mobility programme is in 2 categories elaborated as follows:

Physical Visits

For Physical Visits, participants will physically travel to the host university in a different country and provide services for a planned period not exceeding 4 months

Virtual Visits

For Virtual Visits, participants will not physically travel but provide the service to the host university during a period that is equated to physical delivery of from 1 month to 4 months. For example, when a Virtual Visits delivers a 1-month programme using 2.5 months, then a 4 months programmes should be completed after 10 months. In such a case, IUCEA will recognize 10 months as being equivalent to 4 months and this shall be clearly presented in the Activities/ Work Plan.

Application Guidelines

Applications from Host Universities and Guest Staff shall be submitted in compliance with the information and conditions provided in the Application Guidelines.

Other information includes Member Universities; Application guidelines and forms for Form H for Host Institutions, and Form G for the Guest staff as well as details on eligibility, duration, application procedures, and selection criteria.
