60 selected for MSC Scholarships Under the East and Southern Africa Center of Excellence II Additional Financing Project
Kampala, 19th September 2023: On 15th March 2023, the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), the Regional Facilitation Unit for the World Bank Funded East And Southern African Center Of Excellence II Additional Financing Project (ACE II AF) launched a call for applications targeting a total of 60 female scholars to undertake MSc training in agriculture and related fields. The call for applications comprised the following eligibility criteria: – be a female national of one of the ACE II participating countries of Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Burundi, be under the age of thirty-five (35) years, be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture and related fields from a reputable university at the level of Upper Second Class Honours and have been admitted in any of the ACEs specialized in agriculture and related fields.
After the selection process by the constituted Committee from the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), the Regional Steering Committee approved the 60 scholarships MSC from nationals of Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, and Zambia.
IUCEA’s additional financing under the ACE II project with the funding of the World Bank aims to scale up and strengthen selected Higher Education Institutions in the Republics of Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, and Zambia.
Furthermore, ACE II Additional Financing also scales up regional activities implemented by the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA). As a Regional Facilitating Unit, IUCEA leads in the implementation of key elements of component II of the project. Component II aims at supporting Centers of Excellence to deliver project development objectives through regional interventions including the provision of competitive MSc scholarships to academically deserving future talents. This intervention aims at increasing both the mobility and the number of female scientists specialized in agriculture and related fields.
