Regional Quality Assurance Framework
Overall Goal
To develop a Regional Quality Assurance Framework in order to build and maintain high and comparable academic standards in higher education in East Africa with special emphasis on the promotion of Quality Assurance (QA) and maintenance of comparable international academic standards in the East African universities.
Objectives

To facilitate the development of effective regional quality assurance mechanisms
-
To provide an integrating platform for dialogue and action to develop strong regional harmonization initiatives on quality assurance, benchmarks and credit accumulation and transfer systems.

To facilitate and promote mobility of students, graduates, and academic staff across the region;

To bridge the gap between disparate educational systems by coordinating initiatives of national accreditation bodies and regional bodies to maximise their successes and address their challenges;

To ensure that East African higher education institutions become an increasingly dynamic force in the international higher education arena.
Expected output

Comparability of qualifications awarded across the Region.

Mechanism for benchmarking and comparison of qualifications that will allow for professional mobility for employment and further study, as well as expanded job markets.

Greater intra-regional mobility, thereby fostering increased sharing of information, intellectual resources and research.

Increased East African human resources regional expertise.

Increased collaboration, information sharing and greater networking among all stakeholders in higher education in the Region.

Cooperation between Partner States higher education systems allowing for a more coherent and unified vision for the regional higher education.

Created common East Africa higher education and research space and a ‘dynamic force in the international arena
